Near Exmouth there are two famous golf courses, East Devon Golf Club at Budleigh Salterton and the renowned Woodbury Park created by Nigel Mansell which also has a spa and health club.
The Exe Estuary is an internationally important nature site now managed by the RSPB where half the UK's population of avocets over-winter. The different habitats on the estuary support a diverse and plentiful range of flora and fauna: it has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), a Special Protection Area (SPA) and a Ramsar Site (internationally important area for birdlife). For a closer look you can join an RSPB bird watching cruise.
Other pastimes are conveniently close: horse riding, miles of delightful cycle routes and a myriad of footpaths and byways including access to the South West Coast Path. Exmouth is at the western edge of the wonderful Jurassic Coast, which is a World Heritage Site and designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty giving it a specially protected status.
Perfectly placed...the golf courses and paths, rivers and fossils, the beaches and birds...up and down the estuary and all along the coast
